Polarization within Nigeria’s civil society sector has become a growing concern, undermining collaboration, weakening advocacy, and limiting the sector’s ability to drive meaningful change. This policy document was developed by Thoughts and Mace Advisory in response to these challenges, drawing from extensive research, stakeholder consultations, and sector-wide polling to understand the root causes and manifestations of polarization. By identifying key drivers—such as funding disparities, ideological divides, social media conflicts, and external influences—the document provides practical recommendations to foster trust, encourage strategic partnerships, and build a more cohesive, resilient, and effective civil society sector in Nigeria.
